Membership with IAAMA
As a member of IAAMA, you’ll be among a group of Aromatherapy professionals who value professional credibility and excellence.
Accredited Professional Membership
IAAMA does not recognise any courses with practical subjects provided by Online or Distance or External Modes of learning.
Australian Qualification and practicing in Australia
To be eligible for Accredited Professional Membership with the IAAMA you are required to have completed a Diploma level course recognised under the government health training packages.
HLT52315 Diploma of Clinical Aromatherapy
It is essential that you fully complete your application and supply all supporting documentation certified as required. Applications are assessed on the information supplied and reviewed by the National Council in accordance with IAAMA membership requirements at the time of application. Accredited Professional Members may apply for private health fund provider status.
International Qualification and intending to practice in Australia
If you are living and practicing in Australia but have an international qualification, to apply for Accredited Professional Membership you must contact an Australian Registered Training Organisation offering a Diploma course recognised under the Australian Government’s health training package and apply for recognition of prior learning. This process will match your international qualification with the appropriate Australian qualification.
At the completion of this process you will be awarded an Australian qualification that you can provide with your application for Accredited Professional Membership.
Student Membership
Students of IAAMA approved Aromatherapy courses at colleges and schools affiliated with IAAMA are offered free Student Membership. The Membership Application fee is waived when students of approved courses recognised by IAAMA upgrade to an Accredited or Professional Membership level within three (3) months of attaining their qualification.
School or College Membership
Schools and colleges teaching Aromatherapy can apply to be affiliated with IAAMA and have their courses approved as accredited training or short courses approved for CPE points for members. Students studying accredited aromatherapy courses can apply for free Student Membership. Schools will appear on the Find a school listings. Please email info@iaama.org.au to apply.

The IAAMA Membership year is 1 May to 30 April.
Membership Fees are due on or before 30 April annually.

IAAMA practicing members are able to obtain combined Professional Indemnity, Public & Products Liability insurance at a competitive rate because of negotiated insurance products for our members with the following insurance brokers.

Continuing Professional Education (CPE)
Members are advised of CPE opportunities through the eNewsletter. Opportunities are also advertised on the IAAMA website. The IAAMA annual Members Day provides ongoing professional education. IAAMA recognises a range of providers of aromatherapy education for post qualification education.

Members of IAAMA are kept up to date with the latest news about the Association and Aromatherapy with regular eNewsletters.
IAAMA Logo
Practitioner members, teachers and schools are entitled to use the IAAMA logo to promote their professionalism.
Advocacy
IAAMA works to advance the profile of Aromatherapy and the professional profile of our members with Governments at all levels and liaises with educational facilities and private health funds to enhance recognition of our members and aromatherapy.
Member Participation
Full members have the right to vote on matters relating to the operation of IAAMA. Members are invited to contribute to the association through nomination for Council Membership at Annual General Meetings and through participation in special projects.
IAAMA Website
The IAAMA website Find a Practitioner feature allows members of the public to locate a professional aromatherapist. The For Members section has a range of information, policy and forms are available that can help members manage their practice safely and successfully. Members can manage their own information including the information available to the public in Find a Practitioner, as well as upload CPE activities and pay membership fees in our secure online environment. Links to resources will assist members to keep up to date with the latest developments in Aromatherapy.
